Fabrizio Romano drops exciting news on Liverpool's next targets once Martin Zubimendi deal is completed

Romano has given a major update.

Liverpool will turn their attentions to other transfer targets once they complete their expected move for Martin Zubimendi, according to Fabrizio Romano.

According to reports, Liverpool have made the Real Sociedad star their top target and will progress towards triggering his £51 million release clause.

The Athletic claim that Sociedad expect the 25-year-old to make the move to Anfield, having previously rejected several opportunities to leave the club.

But his release clause would need to be paid in full – similar to the deal that saw Dominik Szoboszlai signed from RB Leipzig last summer.

Now, Romano has revealed that Liverpool have several other targets in mind ahead of Arne Slot’s first season at the helm.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “Trust me, it could be not over for Liverpool.

“They are also looking at other opportunities on the market, so Liverpool will be busy in August.

“Now they are looking to sign Zubimendi, but there could be more for Liverpool.”

The Reds have been linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie, who can play at centre-back and left-back.

The Ecuador international is left-footed, meaning he would provide competition for both Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson if signed.

Sky Germany report that Hincapie wants to be a regular starter elsewhere, and is ‘aware’ of talks and inquiries from ‘top clubs’. He has three years left on his contract.

The 22-year-old is one of European football’s most highly-rated young defenders, but was not an automatic starter for Xabi Alonso’s Bundesliga-winning side last term and could see Liverpool as a viable destination.

The Reds are yet to complete a permanent signing under Slot’s management, with the Dutchman spending much of pre-season attempting to implement his new philosophy on the current squad after Jurgen Klopp’s departure at the end of last season.

Slot and Liverpool have won three of their four pre-season friendlies, including a 3-0 victory over Manchester United, with their only loss a 1-0 behind-closed-doors defeat to Championship side Preston North End last month.
