Liverpool remain interested in signing Anthony Gordon
Liverpool could sign Anthony Gordon this weekend but a new club has entered the race for his signature.
News broke on Saturday morning that Newcastle had contacted Liverpool over a potential deal for the ex-Everton man who is currently on international duty with England at Euro 2024.
The 23-year-old won Newcastle’s Player of the Year award last season after a stellar Premier League campaign but the Magpies need to offload players in order to comply with the league’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes have been linked with an exit but the Daily Mail reported Gordon was offered to Liverpool. Arne Slot’s side rejected the chance to sign the forward – however, the deal is not dead.
Liverpool are understood to be big fans of Gordon who is a boyhood supporter of the club but Newcastle wanted to include Jarell Quansah in the deal which led to its collapse.
With the PSR deadline on June 30, The Guardian report there is still a chance that Liverpool make an official move for the forward this weekend as rival clubs believe Newcastle are still desperate to raise funds.

If Liverpool do move for Gordon, they might face competition from a new club with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly keen on the winger too.
The Ligue 1 champions are searching for a replacement for Kylian Mbappe who departed on a free transfer to Real Madrid earlier this month and Gordon is believed to be an option.
Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has also been linked with a move to the Parc des Princes which could potentially free space in Slot’s squad for a new left sided attacker.

As previously mentioned Gordon is a boyhood Liverpool fan and was released by the club as a youngster prior to joining their fierce rivals Everton.

Talking to SPORTbible about being released, he said: “It was tough to deal with at the time but I think it’s character building.
“At the time I was really disappointed but it massively helped me as a kid going into the Everton group and still helps me to this day I think.
“I was probably a bit emotional and it knocked my confidence. My family were really important for me growing up but I was quite strong-minded. I just continued to play and show my ability. Then Everton came.”
