Erling Haaland has explained exactly how he managed to ‘raw dog’ a seven-hour flight home from the United States.
Manchester City wrapped up their pre-season tour of the USA with a 4-2 victory against Premier League rivals Chelsea.
It was a particularly good evening at Ohio Stadium for Erling Haaland, as the Norwegian striker bagged a hat-trick within 56 minutes to complete his pre-season in style.
The 24-year-old converted from the penalty spot – after a retake was ordered – in the opening minutes, before doubling City’s lead a minute later when he pounced on a loose Chelsea pass.
After Oscar Bobb put City three goals up early in the second half Haaland completed his hat-trick, slotting into the bottom corner after being played through on goal.
Haaland was one of only a few first-team stars to travel to the States as he did not take part in Euro 2024 due to Norway’s failure to qualify.
The squad, including many young and fringe players, flew back to Manchester straight after the match to being preparations for the Community Shield clash with Manchester United on Saturday, August 10.
One of Haaland’s greatest quality is his mentality, proven by the ruthless finishing that saw him break the Premier League single season goals record in his first year in England.

Now, he’s shown that his mental strength extends beyond the pitch.
Haaland took to Instagram to claim that he ‘raw-dogged’ City’s flight back from the US.
‘Raw dogging’ is a new trend that sees people endure long-haul flights without consuming any food or drink or enjoying any entertainment like listening to music or watching films.
It’s a surprisingly difficult challenge that requires real discipline and mental resilience.
Haaland published a video of himself looking dead-ahead at the seat in-front of him with the caption: “Just raw dogged a 7 hour flight. No phone, no sleep, no water, no food, only map. #easy”
