The news probably isn’t going to make Scotland fans feel any better.
Another referee has been stood down from Euro 2024 duty after UEFA slammed ‘major errors’ made during Scotland’s final match.
On Sunday Scotland became the second side to be eliminated from Euro 2024 when they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Hungary.
Steve Clarke’s side knew they had to take three points from their final group game to qualify for the round-of-16, but a Kevin Csoboth goal in the tenth minute of injury-time brought an end to a disappointing campaign.

Although they didn’t deserve anything from the match, Scotland were incensed when they were denied what appeared to be a clear penalty in the 79th minute.
Stuart Armstrong was through on goal when he fell down under an awkward challenge from Willi Orban, with the Hungarian defender appearing to clip the striker’s leg.
However, Argentinian referee Facundo Tello waved play on, and VAR did not intervene.

Scotland boss Steve Clarke directed a furious rant about the official.
When asked post-match if he had spoken to Tello about the incident, Clarke said: “He’s from Argentina — why would I ask him? He probably doesn’t speak the language. I don’t know.
“Why is he here? Why is there not a European referee?”
An agreement between UEFA and South American counterparts Conmebol has seen Tello officiate at Euro 2024 and Italian referee Maurizio Mariani at the Copa America.

Now, it appears that Tello has been axed from Euro 2024.
According to The Sun, six of the 19 officiating teams at Euro 2024 have been sent home after being told they won’t take charge of any more matches.
Spanish sources told The Sun that Tello’s VAR Alejandro Hernandez has been sent home for “not evaluating the play as indicated in the instructions” over the Armstrong incident.
UEFA reportedly felt that Hernandez also failed to intervene when Scotland defender Grant Hanley appeared to elbow Endre Botka during the first half, an incident that should have resulted in a penalty for Hungary.

Tello isn’t the only referee left without a knockout stage appointment due to poor performances.
According to Relevo, Spanish referee Gil Manzano has been sent home by UEFA due to his performances in Germany.
