
The WNBA Rookie of the Year is branching out into another sport this offseason.
For the first time since the beginning of her final collegiate season with the Iowa Hawkeyes, Caitlin Clark has an extended break from basketball.
The WNBA’s No. 1 overall pick, who just finished her Rookie of the Year campaign with the Indiana Fever, doesn’t plan on playing in any overseas or domestic basketball leagues this offseason.
Clark does however plan on improving her talent in another sport.
Following the conclusion of her debut WNBA season, Clark joked that she hopes to become a professional golfer this offseason.
“That’s what I’m gonna do until it gets too cold in Indiana. So I’ve got that, become a professional golfer,” Clark said.
On Monday, Clark announced her plans to participate in the pro-am for the LPGA’s The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican Golf Club in Florida.
“I love golf, so the opportunity to play in the pro-am for a tournament with a legend like Annika Sorenstam’s name on it is so exciting,” Clark said in a press release. “Gainbridge is a leader in supporting women’s sports, and that’s clear through their commitment to me, this event, Billie Jean King, and Parity Week. I’m looking forward to seeing all the LPGA players on the driving range, being part of the Women’s Leadership Summit, and, of course, teeing it up in the pro-am with Annika.”
Clark is scheduled to participate in The Annika pro-am on Wednesday, Nov. 13. She’s also set to serve as a panelist at the Women’s Leadership Summit on Nov. 12.
