Caitlin Clark’s poise on the court doesn’t always extend off of it.
The Indiana Fever rookie couldn’t hold in her laughter during a postgame press conference after teammate Lexie Hull accidentally made a raunchy comment when asked about her defense following the team’s 84-80 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Aug. 28.
Hull said she tried to “get my hands on as many balls as I could,” prompting Clark to put her face in her hands as she laughed. Hull and Kelsey Mitchell, who was also speaking to the media, quickly joined in with a case of the chuckles.
“As they were leaving the press room, CC defended herself with ‘I tried to hold it in!’” Indianapolis Star reporter Chloe Peterson wrote on X in a post that included video of the press conference.
It was part of a memorable evening for Clark, who shattered the WNBA rookie mark for 3-pointers in a season during the game, when she drilled three triples to give her 88 on the season.
Clark also spent some of her time after the game in the presence of greatness when she and her teammates met Olympic gymnastics legend Simone Biles and fellow Olympic star Gabby Thomas, who won three gold medals in track and field at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
“The squad was ecstatic to meet Simone Biles and Gabby Thomas after our win at @GainbridgeFH. the reactions,” the Fever captioned a video posted on X, along with crying laughing and raised hands emoji.
Clark was certainly awed by the encounter.
