The WNBA great shared some bold and controversial praise of Caitlin Clark during Wednesday’s elimination game.

Rebecca Lobo had some very high praise for Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark during Wednesday’s playoff elimination game against the Connecticut Sun — and drew some strong pushback from fans for it.

The legendary WNBA player served on the announcing crew for the game, declaring that she believes Clark is the “best passer in the WNBA right now.” The Indiana Fever guard has made a strong case for that title, breaking the league’s single-season assist record this year and finishing the season with a total of 337 assists.

But some fans took issue with Lobo’s statement, believing that Clark still has some work to do before earning the title of WNBA’s best passer.

“Tell me I did not just hear Rebecca Lobo unironically say Caitlin Clark is the best passer in Chelsea Gray and Courtney Vandersloot’s WNBA…” one fan shared in a post on X.

“Did y’all hear Rebecca Lobo tell that lie that Clark is the best passer in the WNBA? I think she meant Chelsea Gray,” another added.

Lobo has been a big backer of Clark this season, saying in an appearance on SportsCenter that she believes the Fever guard is one of the top five players in the league.

“Caitlin Clark had a remarkable season, she should be a first team All-WNBA performer,” Lobo said. “I have her fourth on my MVP ballot, which is incredible considering how the season started for Indiana, a 1-8 start.”
