The Kansas City Chiefs are one of five teams that remain undefeated heading into Week 4. While the wins haven’t been pretty, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Co. are still getting the job done.

The Chiefs offense took a huge loss after Isiah Pacheco, their No. 1 running back, suffered a broken fibula during the final drive of Kansas City’s 26-25 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. After Pacheco hit injured reserve, the team looked toward Carson Steele, an undrafted rookie out of UCLA, to start against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3.

During the Chiefs’ 22-17 win over the Falcons, Steele registered 17 carries for 72 yards, averaging 4.2 yards per carry in his first-ever career start. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce spoke about the rookie’s performance during the latest episode of his “New Heights” podcast, revealing his nickname for Steele.

“Carson Steele had a hell of a game. My dog, four-two, man. ‘Dundee,’ as I call him,” Kelce said, while mentioning the running back’s pet alligator.

“He’s got the Crocky-J alligator back in Indiana as a present from his dad, which is the coolest thing ever. And he just runs the ball like a maniac. Just like a freight train. Some people are calling him the ‘White Rhino.’”

“He’s hitting the hole, and he’s dragging guys for an extra three, four yards every single time he hits somebody or he’s at the point of contact,” Kelce continued. “And you just love a guy that just hits the hole like that. That puts such a strain on the defense.”

The Chiefs elevated veteran running back Kareem Hunt to the active roster on Sept. 25, which makes it unclear if Steele will have a repeat performance when Kansas City takes on the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4.
