Travis Kelce took a significant step toward stopping the bleeding, so to speak, after his slow start to the season.
The Kansas City Chiefs star produced a noteworthy performance — his first of the season — during the two-time defending champs’ 17-10 Week 4 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. This came in the form of seven receptions for 89 yards, which is a stark contrast from the eight catches and 69 yards he racked up in the first three games of the season.
Unsurprisingly, Kelce has been on the receiving end of some intense backlash amid his slow start. His girlfriend, pop superstar Taylor Swift, has also caught strays as fans and pundits alike blame her for Kelce’s poor form.
As it turns out, Swift is feeling a bit “guilty” about the criticism that has been thrown in the direction of her beau. According to a report by Mike Hammer of Life & Style, Swift has been “shocked over the backlash,” particularly with the notion that Kelce is currently out of shape after having a bit too much fun with Swift during the offseason.
“All the commentators are saying that he partied like a monster during (the) offseason, and he’s only got himself to blame for being out of shape and out of form,” the source said. “Taylor and Travis both insist it’s being blown out of proportion, but there’s no doubt Taylor feels a little guilty that it’s gotten to this point because it is true that he spent his offseason living the good life with her.”
As the report indicates, Kelce, 34, is a grown man who is fully capable of making his own decisions. However, being the supportive girlfriend that she is, Swift is feeling a bit of remorse for the role she played in allowing Kelce to “party like a monster” during the NFL break.
The good news for Kelce is that based on his Week 4 performance, it appears that he is trending in the right direction. He will have an opportunity to resume his upward trajectory on Monday when they host the 2-2 New Orleans Saints at the Arrowhead Stadium.
For her part, Swift has missed the Chiefs’ last two games due to scheduling conflicts, and her presence in their next game should provide a boost for Kelce.
The Chiefs are currently 4-0 and will be looking to maintain their spotless record when they take on Derek Carr and Co. in the next edition of “Monday Night Football.”
