Josh Allen may have reset the bar for the NFL’s best touchdown of the 2024 season on Sunday night.

With the Buffalo Bills leading the San Francisco 49ers 21-3 midway through the third quarter, wide receiver Amari Cooper made an impressive one-handed grab on a first-and-goal pass from Allen. Cooper was roughly five yards away from the end zone and about to be tackled when he instead lateraled it back to Allen.

The MVP frontrunner handled the rest, racing past defenders and diving for the pylon to extend Buffalo’s lead in one of the wildest unscripted plays in recent memory.

Allen’s two touchdown passes, one rushing score and one absurdly rare receiving touchdown made him the first quarterback in NFL history to accomplish all three in one game.

After the game, Allen discussed the play and admitted he “threw a bad ball” and was chasing it, which sparked the memorable moment. Then he and Cooper made eye contact, leading to the lateral.

Allen was then informed that announcer Chris Collinsworth was thrilled that the play credited the quarterback with passing and receiving touchdowns because he started him in fantasy football.

This statistical rarity was also great news for the Bills’ signal-caller, as he admitted to being a Josh Allen fantasy owner as well.

Allen gets bonus points for honesty and a tip of the cap for sticking with himself even though he knew he’d be playing Monday night’s game in the snow.

The 28-year-old led the Bills (10-2) to a 35-10 victory while clinching the AFC East title for the fifth consecutive season.
