Indiana Fever Make a Big Caitlin Clark Rookie of the Year Statement

The Indiana Fever kick off the second half of their regular-season schedule Friday against the Phoenix Mercury, and the team made it’s stance clear on who it thinks should be the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year.

The Fever posted a 1:10 long video clip on its official X account of Clark unleashing havoc from the 3-point line with the caption “Caitlin Clark’s three point game? Elite. Our rookie of the year can put on a show.”

Clark leads all rookies in made 3-pointers per game (2.7) and 3-point attempts per game (8.3), and she’s on pace to break the WNBA rookie records in both categories. The 22-year-old also ranks fifth among in 3-point shooting percentage (.327).

But Clark’s acumen as a 3-point shooter isn’t the only reason she’s a ROTY front-runner.

The Fever also posted a thread of some of her notable accomplishments this season, which include becoming the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double, setting a WNBA record with 19 assists in a single game, setting a new single-season franchise record for assists (213), totaling the most assists by a rookie in a WNBA All-Star game (10), and logging the most double-doubles by a rookie guard (9).

Among first-year players, Clark also ranks first in scoring (17.1 points per game), assists (8.2 per game), steals (1.5 per game) and free-throw percentage (.890), second in player-efficiency rating (17.3), third in win shares (1.2) and fourth in rebounding (5.8 per game) and field-goal percentage (.404).
