Kanye West and Taylor Swift have an interesting history together as music rivals, a story that had an interesting plot twist right after last Sunday’s Super Bowl. Kanye West has disrespected Taylor Swift and the popstar has never really responded with similar energy. Despite the rapper’s constant attacks either through music videos or by interrupting a VMAs acceptance sppech, Swift has always taken the high road in their particular rivalry. Years after those moments, West himself nearly killed his own career by making controversial anti semitic remarks. Many companies no longer wanted to associate themselves with him and Ye recently confessed he was two months away from filing for bankruptcy.

As he dropps his most recent album named ‘VULTURES’, Kanye West broke all streaming platforms and became No. 1 in nearly all of them.. But Spotify is the most important of them all and West dethroned his old enemy. As of last Sunday, Kanye West became the No. 1 Spotify artist as he took Taylor Swift out of the top spot. This new development came despite the constant complaints from other artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, who claims West use a sample from one of his live songs despite refusing to share it with him. West has also been through the ringer over the last year and a half, financially.

Last Monday, Kanye West was strolling through an airport as he was approached by a TMZ reporter. This was the perfect time for West to claim victory for being No. 1 in the charts and also state he can’t really be cancelled. They also gave him a chance to take back his anti Semitic comments and he refused. Despite his constant attitude and controversial claims, people still adore Kanye West’s music. This victory also turns Kanye West into the first-ever independent artist to be No. 1 in Spotify.
