Meghan Markle Faces Legal Battle: Oprah Seeks Huge Compensation Over Career-Damaging Claims
She won both an Oscar and a Bafta for her portrayal of Elizabeth II in the acclaimed 2006 film The Queen.
Now Helen Mirren appears to be drawing on the late Queen’s style for her latest role in The Thursday Murder Club, Netflix‘s forthcoming adaptation of Richard Osman‘s best-selling novel.
She wears a green headscarf and oversize spectacles – similar to those she wore in The Queen 18 years ago – for the role of Elizabeth Best, a former spy and one of the four central characters in the drama.
Dame Helen, 79, also wears a khaki-coloured gilet similar to one the Queen would wear while in the countryside, as well as walking with a stick.
She was seen filming scenes for the drama in Hertfordshire alongside co-star Celia Imrie, who stood out in a red knitted hat for her role as ex-nurse Joyce Meadowcroft.

Helen’s look for The Thursday Murder Club is quite similar to when she played the late monarch in The Queen (2006)
The pair, who also appeared in the hit film Calendar Girls together, shot scenes that involved them boarding a bus and visiting a local police station.
The plot of The Thursday Murder Club follows a group of pensioners in a middle-class retirement village, who set about solving the murder of a property developer.
The gang of amateur sleuths are made up of retired spook Elizabeth, stroppy ex-trade unionist Ron, former nurse Joyce and psychiatrist Ibrahim.
Richard wrote the book over 18 months in secret and it was soon at the centre of a 10-way bidding war, before Penguin Random House bought the rights for a seven-figure sum in 2019.
On its publication in 2020, The Thursday Murder Club became the only book to have sold more than one million copies in the same year as its release and the third-highest-selling hardback novel after Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol and JK Rowling’s Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows.
It was followed by three sequels, The Man Who Died Twice in 2021, The Bullet That Missed in 2022 and The Last Devil to Die in 2023, with a fifth planned to be published next year.
The novels have turned into a runaway success story, selling more than 10 million copies globally.
The Thursday Murder Club boasts a star-studded cast who are set to bring the novel to life on the big screen.
