Former President Donald Trump took aim on Wednesday at claims in a new biography of Queen Elizabeth II that she found him ‘very rude’ as the work of a ‘sleazebag’ with a book to sell.

Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com, he said they had spent hours together and had warmed to each other during their meetings.

‘I heard I was her favorite president,’ he said.

The sensational claims are made in an upcoming biography, ‘A Voyage Around the Queen,’ by Craig Brown.

He writes how the late queen confided in another guest that she had ‘particularly disliked’ the way he looked over her shoulder as if in search of someone more interesting.

‘She also believed President Trump “must have some sort of arrangement” with his wife Melania, or else why would she have remained married to him?’ he writes in excerpts published by the Daily Mail.

Trump, 78, said there was simply no truth in the account.

‘It was totally false. I have no idea who the writer is, but it was really just the opposite,’ Trump told DailyMail.com after a campaign rally in Asheboro, North Carolina.

‘I had a great relationship with the queen. She liked me and I liked her.’

Trump is currently running to regain the White House, but has slipped in the polls ever since President Joe Biden dropped out to be replaced by his vice president, Kamala Harris.

And he has spoken repeatedly of his adoration for the British Royal Family, saying he inherited his fondness from his Scottish mother.

One of his earliest memories is watching the coronation by her side.

He met her in 2018, after becoming president during a visit marred by protests in London. They met informally for tea during a trip that was pared down to avoid even bigger protests.

Do you believe Trump was the Queen’s favourite president?

A year later he got to enjoy all the pomp of a state visit, which included a full state banquet.

Although he avoided any major gaffes, he broke royal protocol by placing his hand on her back while toasting her as a ‘great, great woman’ at the dinner.

Trump said he had been smeared by a writer trying to promote a book.

‘I spoke to her often, and I spoke to her in particular when I was there,’ he said.

‘We spent hours together at a state dinner. She was a fantastic woman. I think it’s a shame that a sleazebag can write an article that’s totally false.’

Buckingham Palace has stayed out of the controversial and generally avoids any comment on books or biographies.

Trump, however, insisted his trips had been a resounding success.

‘She said it to friends of mine that “President Trump was my favorite president,'” he said

‘And then you have this guy looking for some publicity for a book that probably is phony, and a lot of other ways too.

‘Now I know nothing about him. I have no idea who he is.

‘We had an unbelievable relationship. She was an amazing woman.’

Trump discussed national security, Afghanistan, and his race against Kamala Harris in a wideranging interview on Wednesday after holding his first outdoor rally since being shot.
