Chicago Sky star Chennedy Carter recently voiced her displeasure on social media after being ranked below Caitlin Clark in ESPN’s midseason top 25 WNBA players list. Released on Wednesday, the list placed Clark at 15th, while Carter found herself nine spots lower at 24th.
“No one knew what to expect when Carter made her return to the WNBA following a one-year hiatus,” ESPN reporter Alexa Philippou wrote.

“But she has been nothing short of sensational in Chicago, carving out a starting role after initially coming off the bench, leading the Sky in scoring. With her lightning-quick first step, no one in the league can stop her from getting downhill to her spots.”
Taking to her Instagram story, the 25-year-old guard expressed her frustration.
“How I average less minutes and my stats top in the league? But I am at the bottom,” Carter said. “This isn’t adding up. The hate be so obvious, F/G percentage as well.”
Carter’s numbers
Carter’s reaction stems from what she perceives as an undervaluation of her performance this season. Through 24 games, she has been a consistent force for the Chicago Sky, averaging 17.2 points per game, along with 2.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 25.1 minutes per game.
These numbers closely mirror her rookie season’s peak of 17.4 points per game, demonstrating her continued impact on the court.

Additionally, Carter’s shooting efficiency has reached new levels, with a career-best 51.8 percent from the field. This marks a significant improvement from her previous best of 47.3 percent, achieved during her standout 2020 season. Her increased accuracy highlights her growth as a player and strengthens her case for a higher position in the rankings.
While Caitlin Clark’s emergence as a top player is undeniable, Carter’s consistent contributions and enhanced performance metrics suggest that her lower ranking may not fully reflect her value to her team.
