Angel Reese’s recent comments about her salary have left social media user divided.
While most people don’t publicly reveal the amount of money they make (celebrities in particular), Reese recently revealed hers during an Instagram Live.
The 6ft 3 basketball star plays for Chicago Sky, which currently sits at 10th in the WNBA’s Standings.
In the live video, Reese quipped that she’s ‘living beyond [her] means’ as she worked out that her salary doesn’t cover her rent.
“I just hope y’all know, the WNBA doesn’t pay my bills at all,” she shared.
“I don’t even think that pays one of my bills. Literally.”
Going on to do the math, the 22-year-old revealed that she’s paid $74,000 a year and that her monthly rent is an eye-watering $8,000.
“I’m living beyond my means,” Reese laughed at her calculations.
From the looks of her outfit, it seems as if the basketball player may have filmed the video before or after attending the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show afterparty in New York City on Tuesday night (October 15).
Reese’s candid admission has left people divided. While some have said she should be paid more, others urged the sportswoman to move somewhere cheaper.
One person said on Twitter: “Why rent something you can’t afford.”

A second commented: “Imagine earning $74K a year and knowingly signing an $8K a month lease. This one’s on her.”
“I’ll never understand people who live outside theirs means then complain about it,” a different person wrote.
But others felt more passionately that WNBA players like Reese should be paid better salaries.
“Tbf she needs to be paid more,” someone said in the 22-year-old’s defense.
“That’s crazy,” added another Twitter user. “WNBA players makes less than a lot of regular jobs.”
Someone else penned: “Angel Reese’s situation shows the financial struggles many athletes face. It’s concerning that her WNBA salary isn’t enough to cover her high living costs.”

While Reese revealed that her salary might not cover her rent, others were quick to point out that she still makes the big bucks with endorsements and through other avenues.
According to Distractify, the Chicago Sky player’s net worth is estimated to be just under $2 million.
Some of Reese’s money-making partnerships of late include a collaboration with Reese’s Pieces (fitting for the basketball star’s name), as well as getting her own line of sneaker with Reebok.
