After threatening to remove her Instagram account, Selena Gomez went on her first public appearance.
On Saturday night, the actress, 31, was seen holding hands with her closest friend, Taylor Swift, at a glamorous girls’ night out in New York City.
In a brown turtleneck sweater dress by FRAME, the Only Murders in the Building actress, who promised to erase her Instagram account in response to the harsh criticism she received for her silence on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, looked stylish yet comfortable.
She wore a long, balloon-sleeved knit dress with a gold leather belt that tightened her waist.
She styled her dark, raven hair into a beautiful bun to highlight a pair of large, gold hoops earrings.
She wore pointed-toed slingback kitten heels and opaque tights underneath her maxi dress.
In keeping with the other elements of her ensemble, she was also seen carrying a bucket bag made of black leather with gold hardware.
She chose a dewy, light makeup look with thick, fluttering lashes and champagne-colored eyeshadow.
She added a latte-colored lip gloss and a beautiful, coral blush to complete her appearance.
While Travis Kelce, the NFL star boyfriend of the Cruel Summer hitmaker, was away with the Kansas City Chiefs, Gomez joined Swift and her entourage for dinner.
Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne, Brittany Mahomes, and Sophie Turner joined the lifelong friends on their night out.
Gomez responded to all of the social media users who were condemning her for keeping quiet about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict earlier this week on her Instagram account.
She claimed that one post would not “change the world” in a since-deleted post.
She announced that she would be ‘taking a break’ from the site due to the influx of fans in her comments area.
‘I’m taking a sabbatical and deactivating my Instagram,’ she tweeted, seemingly in response to the criticism. I’m through. I oppose everything that is happening.
Rather, she just disabled comments on all of her postings, and she hasn’t updated her Instagram Story since.
Selena initially said on Monday that she was taking a “break” from Instagram, and that was several days ago when she shared her most recent photo.
As she responded to criticism, she stated that although her “heart breaks to see all the horror, hate, violence, and terror that’s going on in the world,” a social media post won’t “change the world.”
“Any act of hate towards any one group, including the torture and killing of people, is horrific,” the statement she made said.
She went on, “We need to stop the violence for good and protect EVERYONE, especially the children.” “I apologize if my words are insufficient for everyone or for a hashtag.”
“I simply cannot watch innocent people suffer harm.” That is the reason I feel ill. I desire to alter the course of history. However, a post won’t.
This is in response to Selena’s earlier this month video promotion of the Rare Impact Fund for World Mental Health Day, which sparked criticism from fans who felt that she should have spoken more in the comments section.
Following Selena’s decision to deactivate comments on her most recent posts, a portion of her 430 million fans revisited her video from October 4 and said that, as a UNICEF ambassador, she ought to have spoken out against the war.
Selena then penned, in a since deleted Instagram Stories post, “I’m taking a break and deleting my Instagram,” seemingly in response to the criticism. I’m through. I oppose everything that is happening.

Additionally, the two-time Grammy nominee shared an old Instagram photo of her 10-year-old half-sister, Gracie Elliott Teefey, with the remark, “Every day has made me tragically sick.” To protect young and innocent lives, I will stop at nothing.
According to a study released on Thursday by the Health Ministry in Gaza, which is operated by Hamas, over 3,600 children have died in the first 25 days of the conflict, primarily as a result of bombings carried out in retribution for an attack that killed 1,033 Israeli citizens on October 7.
