Who says … this won’t be the next summer bop?
After years spent focusing on her acting career, “Only Murders in the Building” star Selena Gomez finally announced the drop of a new single — “SINGLE SOON” — on August 25.
“Y’all have been asking for new music for a while. Since I’m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back,” she tweeted on Aug.17. “[It’s] perfect for the end of summer. Presave it now.”
The cover art features the “Come & Get It” singer wearing a pink metallic sequined dress overlayed with a fluffy purple coat.
The “Bad Liar” pop star tops the outfit off with layers of pearl necklaces and blinged-out bracelets.
In an Instagram carousel post shared with her 427 million followers, Gomez, 31, teased behind-the-scenes snippets of the music video shoot.
Photos show Gomez lounging in the backseat of a car, laughing with friends and polaroids of her ’70s-themed shoot wardrobe.
The announcement surprised many Selenators, mega-fans of Gomez, who have been waiting for her to release new music since her 2020 album, “Rare.”
“I’ve waited forever,” exclaimed one fan. “You drop nothing but hits so we will be streaming!”
“OH MY GOD SELENA WE ARE SO BACK,” gushed another Gomez devotee.
“We love you so much, Queen … we’ve been waiting this for so long and finally we are getting new music. Selenators we really won today,” another chimed in.

Gomez didn’t altogether ditch the music scene during her acting hiatus: She released her single “My Mind & Me” in 2022 and collaborated with Rema’s “Calm Down” and BLACKPINK’s “Ice Cream.”
However over the years, she has remained focused on her battle with Lupus, a disease that occurs when your body’s immune system attacks your own tissues and organs, according to Mayo Clinic, along with her mental health and acting career
Gomez hopes dropping the anticipated summer hit can hold fans over until her upcoming album, “SG3” is ready to be released
