Ryan Reynolds put on the Deadpool mask at the 2023 Emmy Awards to accept the awards won by Welcome to Wrexham.

Ryan Reynolds has made quite an impression on Hollywood thanks to his humor. Though an exceptionally talented actor, he has become famous for his dark, quick-witted jokes that have become his signature. When Deadpool entered the picture, there was no stopping the actor.
Being two sides of the same coin, fans have accepted the fact that he was born to play this character, both having reputations for being sarcastic, yet their humor has a refreshing feeling for those select few who do not get irritated by it.
Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool
Reynolds has made several public appearances in the Deadpool mask, pretending to be doing it on the behalf of himself. Recently, at the 2023 Emmy Awards, the actor did exactly this, putting on the face of Deadpool to accept the number of awards won by Welcome to Wrexham, which is owned by Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. This surprise cameo has fans going crazy in anticipation of Deadpool 3.
Ryan Reynolds Made A Cameo At The Emmy Awards
Welcome to Wrexham won five different Emmys at the Emmy Awards Ceremony in categories ranging from Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program to Outstanding Directing for a Reality Program. While accepting these awards, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney shared their gratitude in the form of a video message, via X. This included the former donning his Deadpool mask and addressing his audience.
Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool
“Wow, Mr. Lively couldn’t be here to accept this broken Emmy so he sent me on his behalf. First and foremost, Wrexham, we love you. Thank you for letting Rob and the other guy tell your story. Cymru am byth, b******. I’d also like to thank The Academy for this honour and for not asking us to attend the televised awards show with the real celebrities. I’d also like to thank FX and Disney for their support and in exchange, Mr. Lively promises not to f-ck up my next movie.”
He started by stating that Reynolds could not make it to this event, so Deadpool would be filling in for him, referring to him as Mr. Lively. He then thanked Wrexham for giving the actor and McElhenney the honor of being able to tell their story. He also thanked the Emmy Awards for recognizing their efforts and not inviting those involved in this project with the rest of the “real celebrities”. He ended this by threatening the Oscars and telling them to nominate Deadpool 3 next year in the VFX category for the amount of work being put into editing Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s faces.
Fans Are Losing Their Minds Because of The Cameo
As soon as this video was released, fans rushed to platforms like X, to discuss this cameo and their opinions on the matter. Some loved the fact that the actor referred to himself as Mr. Lively after his wife, Blake Lively. Some pointed out that there was no way that this was Ryan Reynolds as it was very clearly Deadpool on their screens. One fan mentioned that this was truly what he was best known for, and this is why fans loved him so much.
Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 3
Another fan added that this entire video was perfect, and the only thing that could top this would be if Hugh Jackman walked across the screen in character. The video only seems to add to the anticipation that they are feeling towards Deadpool 3. It is safe to say that his fans agree that getting cast as Deadpool was the best thing to ever happen to Reynolds.
