Through the first three weeks, no wide receiver had as many receiving yards as Rashee Rice, but his current total is likely to stay there for the foreseeable future.
Rice injured his leg in the first quarter of the Chiefs-Chargers game after colliding with Mahomes following an interception.
Mahomes threw an interception to Chargers cornerback Kristian Fulton, and in an effort to stop him, Mahomes leaned with his shoulder toward Fulton’s lower half, but amid missing him, he hit Rice’s right knee.
Rashee Rice had to be carted off the field after an ugly-looking knee injury, and according to James Palmer of Bleacher Report, there’s concern that he suffered a season-ending ACL tear.
The second-year pro out of SMU entered Week 4 with 23 receptions on 29 targets for 288 yards and two receiving touchdowns, but did not record any catches on Sunday before his injury.
The Chiefs won the game but lost so much more with the loss of Rice.
He was by far the most targeted receiver on the Chiefs’ offense. He made up for the fact that Travis Kelce was off to a slow start.
Without Rashee Rice — Travis Kelce finally emerged as he hauled in seven catches for 89 yards.
The Chiefs are going to go back to leaning on Kelce for the foreseeable future.
Who Can The Chiefs Replace Rashee Rice With?
The Chiefs desperately need to bring in somebody to replace Rashee Rice.
After blossoming as the No. 1 pass-catching option for the Kansas City Chiefs early in the 2024 NFL season, the wide receiver left Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers after suffering a knee injury when quarterback Patrick Mahomes collided with the second-year receiver.
He is now feared to have a torn ACL and may be done for the year.
The Chiefs will likely consider all available trades to give Patrick Mahomes everything he wants and needs to ensure the team stays on top.
