Car coordinator and expert Dennis McCarthy says Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are the only cast members who can really push the limits.

From some serious street cred and good old racing days filled with the smell of asphalt and pink slips to saving the world from villains, the Fast and Furious franchise has come a long way. Still, the only thing that has remained constant in the life of the Torretos and their family is their shared love for fast and exotic cars.

But when it comes to actually pushing these cars to their absolute limits and unlocking their potential, there are only a few stars who can do it right with their own hands in the franchise. While stars like Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson may hold their own with their rides, the series’ in-house car expert says that he’s seen no one better on set than Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.
Car Expert Calls Vin Diesel And Paul Walker The Best Drivers In The Fast And Furious Franchise

While it may have started its journey from the streets, the franchise quickly became the center of global adventures involving every sci-fi flair possible. Still, the Fast and Furious franchise remains stuck to its roots with some of the most souped-up and exotic cars known to mankind. But what happens when the stars of the series actually take the wheel?
The franchise’s very own car coordinator and expert Dennis McCarthy revealed that the two stars are natural pros in the driver’s seat, and it’s neither Dwayne Johnson nor Jason Statham.

In a past interview with The Verge, McCarthy was talking about the then-upcoming film Furious 7, which featured another roster of highly sought-after cars. Since he has been part of almost nine films in the franchise, he knows who can pull their weight when it comes to putting the pedal to the metal.
And while the aforementioned stars can pull their own weight on set, there’s no beating the practical knowledge and intense experience that Vin Diesel and the Late Paul Walker possessed. He said:
“Really, the only cast members that I’ve seen really push the limits would’ve been Paul [Walker] and Vin Diesel. Vin Diesel can slide a car and put it on its mark every time without a problem. I know that they would all prefer to do more driving, but like I said, it would double our production time.”
Considering that these two were the faces of the film that started it all, and remained constant as it progressed, it’s no surprise that they would be the hardest and most skilled workers in town.
What’s Next For The Fast And Furious Franchise?

A still from Fast X
Ever since their iconic and infamous bank heist in the fifth installment of the series, Fast and Furious has taken the big-budget sci-fi action route and has seen the entire franchise rise to new heights.
But so far, they had never come face to face with a foe as unhinged and lunatic as Dante Reyes, who made his appearance in the latest Fast X. Settling a score from the past, the mastermind managed to bring the entire crew to their knees, and with the upcoming film, we will get to what Dom has in store for him.
Fast X, streaming on Peacock.
