Many people thought Justin Bieber was using his large social media following as a vehicle to deliver his April Fool’s joke this year.
The singer took to Instagram to share a photo of an ultrasound, without a caption, and people immediately assumed the fetus was he and Hailey Baldwin’s child. When Hailey commented on the post shortly thereafter, she alluded to the announcement being a joke by writing, “very funny…”

However, after receiving a wave of backlash for allegedly using pregnancy to trick the masses, Bieber shared another photo of Hailey at a doctor’s office, holding her stomach, with the caption, “If U thought it was April Fool’s.”

It appears as though the ultrasound Bieber shared was a stock photo from San Juan Hospital, based off of the mirroring information displayed at the top of the image.

After seemingly confirming Hailey’s pregnancy, Bieber then shared a photo of a dog at the center of an ultrasound, with the caption, “Wait omg is that a,,, APRIL FOOLS.”
Whether or not Hailey is pregnant remains unclear, however, a source told Entertainment Tonight that Bieber has “always wanted to be a young father” and that he draws inspiration from his parents, who were 18 years old when they had him.
The singer also mentioned fatherhood while announcing that he intends on taking a break from music. “I have been looking, seeking, trial and error, as most of us do. I am now very focused on repairing some of the deep-rooted issues that I have, as most of us have, so that I don’t fall apart so that I can sustain my marriage and be the father I want to be,” Bieber wrote on Instagram. “Music is very important to me but nothing comes before my family and my health. I will come with a kick-ass album ASAP.”
Complex has reached out to a rep for Justin Bieber.
