Ludacris Was the brains behind The Rock’s savage comeback that became iconic

Dwayne Johnson has added a great flavor to the Fast and Furious franchise but his comeback scene in the sixth installment became quite hilarious. What’s more surprising is the fact that his casual efforts to humiliate his co-star, Tyrese Gibson in the Fast & Furious 6 were actually planned by his co-star.

Dwayne Johnson
From debuting in Fast Five (2011) as Luke Hobbs, a skilled federal agent and Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) agent, he has quickly stolen everyone’s hearts with his captivating performance. However, his savage response to Tyrese Gibson was a wholesome moment that was unscripted and added on the spot all thanks to Ludacris.

In Fast and Furious 6, there was a reunion scene that featured Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson) and Tej Parker (Ludacris) cooking when Dwayne Johnson‘s character, Luke Hobbs enters the scene.
Pearce eventually made a joke about Hobbs’ saying, “You better hid your baby oil” to mock his excessive use of oil. The next moment made the whole sequence more hilarious as the Jumanji actor reverted stating, “You better hide that big a** forehead.”
It was a savage reply to mock Gibson’s big forehead which left Ludacris to spit out his drink as he barely controlled his laughter. Given that the sequence gained quite attention, the rapper later revealed that he was the mastermind behind the whole facade.

The 46-year-old rapper shared that he was the one who asked The Rock to add that particular mocking line in his entry scene. He revealed that the scene was not in the script which even included his shocking reaction. As per a short video via BoldBillionaire, Ludacris shared,
“So, a lot of people don’t know that, I whispered to The Rock and I told him that he needed to say that and I didn’t think he was gonna do it. Because it wasn’t written in the script at all.”
He continued,
“Tyrese is known as the man on set that’s always just joking everyone and that was the least thing that he expected was to have The Rock have such a great comeback.”
In another appearance on BBC Radio 1, he talked about how Johnson surprised everyone by actually speaking that dialogue.
“So it was a real reaction when he actually said it in his own way to Tyrese. And Tyrese’s reaction was also very surprised because he had no idea that The Rock was going to do that.”
He further asserted that he along with Gibson’s reaction was “100% real” which was why he spat out his drink. He had a great influence on the scene, giving a wholesome hilarious moment to fans.
The franchise released its tenth installment this year, Fast X which featured an ensemble cast including the return of the Baby Boy actor and the Crash star. Grossing $714 million worldwide, the film received mixed reviews from critics. Meanwhile, its sequel is currently in the works and is set to be released on April 4, 2025.
Fast X is now streaming on Peacock.
