In an interview for Bloomberg’s ‘The Circuit,’ Bieber made it clear that there’s “no issue” between her and Gomez.
In a conversation with Emily Chang for Bloomberg’s The Circuit, Hailey Bieber wanted to make it clear that there is “no issue” whatsoever between her and Selena Gomez.
“I don’t think that this is about me, Hailey Bieber, and Selena Gomez. This is not about this pitting between two women and division between two women,” she said at the 18:30 mark of the interview. “It’s about the vile, disgusting hatred that can come from completely made-up and twisted and perpetuated narratives. That can be really dangerous.”

Fans appeared to instigate the drama between the two women earlier this year because of Bieber’s marriage to Justin Bieber, who famously dated Gomez for years. After plenty of speculation, it eventually led to Bieber reaching out to Gomez to let her know that she’s received death threats. Gomez told her fans directly that she doesn’t want them attacking Bieber in any way, shape, or form.
“It’s an opportunity to really stand for bringing people together,” Bieber said of the fabricated tension between them. “I’m not okay with the kind of division that it caused. I don’t like this whole idea of ‘team this person’ and ‘team that person’—I’m just not about that. I want to be able to bring people together.”
Bieber went on to directly address how she was pitted against Gomez because of her marriage to Justin. “I’ve hated it since the beginning. And I think that kind of goes back to a little bit of just being misunderstood,” she explained. “I keep having to say, and we keep having to say, that there is no issue and there is no problem. It’s so disappointing that people still behave this way over a man. It’s the world we live in, unfortunately.” In a final word on the matter, she called the whole thing “silly, made-up drama.”
Back in March, Gomez addressed Bieber receiving death threats. “Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity,” Gomez wrote on social media at the time. “This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. … I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.”
Fans have suggested in the past that Bieber “stole” her now-husband from Gomez. “It’s not my character to mess with someone’s relationship. I would just never do that,” Bieber said in an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast. “I’m not interested in doing that and I never was.”
