Big project: Vin Diesel will be the executive producer of a Miami Vice reboot according to a Wednesday report from The Hollywood Reporter

Classic: The original series aired for five seasons in the late Eighties and famously starred Don Johnson as James ‘Sonny’ Crockett and Philip Michael Thomas as Ricardo ‘Rico’ Tubbs
THR also reports that the project has been spearheaded by former Fox executive and current head for television of Diesel’s One Race Television production company Shana Waterman.
The ambitious revival will be the first project to come from Diesel’s company’s deal with Universal Television.
According to the publication it was all Diesel’s idea to revive Miami Vice as he even made a personal proposal to NBC’s Entertainment president Jennifer Salke.

Bring him back! Hopefully the reboot resurrects Robin Hood-esque vigilante Joe Dan Jumper (played by the late Patrick Bishop of General Hospital fame) who starred in the highest rated most viewed episode of the series titled Indian Wars in 1988

An indigenous Rambo: Joe Dan was a war hero who came back to his tribe in Florida only to see it corrupted by drug dealers who have a stranglehold on his father Miccosukee Chief Jumper (played by the late E. Claude Richards); Joe Dan decides to take matters into his own hands delivering vigilante justice
The original Miami Vice series ran for five years from 1984 to 1989.
