Kate’s recent appearance alongside her family at Trooping the Colour sent a message to the world that she is getting better as she continues cancer treatment.

And one thing that stood out on the day was the way that she and her nine-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte were once again co-ordinating in their outfits.

It helped to send a message that mother and daughter are united amidst their family’s struggle.

Ever since her very earliest appearances, Charlotte’s look has regularly co-ordinated with her mother’s.

Whether it’s been Easter Sunday Services, outings on Christmas Day or engagements abroad, Charlotte has been a style mini-me of Kate.

And even when their outfits are not exactly matching, Kate ensures that there is still subtle-cordination.

She and Charlotte might wear the same colour but not the same shade, or the Princess of Wales will dress her daughter in a hue that complements her accessories.

Read on below to discover the instances where Charlotte has taken after her mother on the style front.

Kate was in Jenny Packham with a Philip Treacy hat and Charlotte in a classic navy blue frock featuring a striking white trim and traditional sailor collar, adding a timeless touch to her look.

Both wore white shoes which finished off their outfits perfectly.

Each of their looks also featured bows and had an underlying nautical style, which made a subtle tribute to the history of the Royal Family and the sailor outfits worn by royal children for decades, ever since the reign of Queen Victoria.

Meanwhile, Princess Charlotte looked like her mum’s mini-me in a complimenting ivory silk crepe Alexander McQueen dress and a similar headpiece that was also by Jess Collet for Alexander McQueen.

The leaf design on their headpieces acknowledged the Green Man theme.

The ancient figure from British folklore appeared on the design for the coronation invitation.

The look was a tribute to King Charles and his passion for nature and environmentalism.

Easter Sunday – 2023

Easter Sunday in 2023 saw Kate and Charlotte make a united appearance, twinning in shades of blue.

Princess Kate wore an elegant Catherine Walker coat for the Mattins service at Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel.

She paired the coat with monochromatic accessories and daring red nails.

Princess Charlotte was dressed in a Rachel Riley blue floral flock with bright blue tights and navy Mary Jane flats.

The choice of blue was no coincidence as it is a colour traditionally associated with loyalty, trust, and tranquillity – qualities that are paramount for the royals.

Christmas Carols – 2022

It was head to toe burgundy for Kate and Charlotte as they made a festive arrival to the 2022 Christmas Carol service.

Kate wore a burgundy coat from Eponine and dressed her daughter in a matching one from Trotters.

With the death of Queen Elizabeth in September that year, it had been a turbulent few weeks for the royals.

Queen Elizabeth’s Funeral

Kate and Princess Charlotte also wore matching outfits at Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral.

Kate wore a bespoke Alexander McQueen coat dress in black which was cinched in at the waist and flared out into pleats.

The look mirrored the pleats on the back of Charlotte’s Ancar coat.

Wide-brimmed hats were the accessory of choice for the duo – Kate’s by Philip Treacy and Charlotte’s by Jane Taylor London.

To honour the late Queen, Kate wore the former monarch’s Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings.

Charlotte similarly paid tribute through her jewellery, wearing an heirloom horseshoe brooch which was given to her by her late great-grandmother.

Commonwealth Games – 2022

At the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Princess Charlotte sat alongside her mother in a black and white striped Rachel Riley dress with a Peter Pan collar.

Kate complemented her in all-white Alexander McQueen tailoring, but it was her Camilla Elphick two-tone pumps that pulled the duo’s ensemble together.

Easter is an opportunity for sartorial synergy, and nothing screams cohesive family unit as much as matching outfits.

At the Easter Sunday service at St George’s Chapel in 2022, Kate chose a coat dress from Emilia Wickstead and Charlotte wore Rachel Riley florals.

Her look was complimented with a navy cardigan which co-ordinated with her mother’s Jane Taylor headband.

Christmas Day – 2019

At the 2019 Christmas Day church service at Sandringham, Kate ensured Charlotte’s outfit coordinated with hers, but not in a copy-and-paste, identical fashion.

Kate wore a bespoke, mocha Catherine Walker double-breasted coatdress made from mohair, with a faux fur collar and cuffs and a belted waist which was accessorised with an emerald Lock & Co hat, Emmy pumps and an Emmy clutch bag.

By her side, Princess Charlotte wore almost the inverse, an Amaia double breasted coat in the same shade as Kate’s accessories, allowing the emerald colourway to pop.

At Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018, Kate dazzled in a pale yellow Alexander McQueen coat dress, perfectly accessorised with a matching fascinator by Philip Treacy.

Charlotte mirrored her mother’s refined style in an ivory bridesmaid dress by Givenchy, the same designer as Meghan’s iconic wedding gown.

Her look was completed with a delicate flower crown, just like the corsage on Kate’s hat.

Berlin – 2017

During the royal visit to Germany in 2017, Kate ensured that her two-year-old daughter’s outfit chimed with hers.

Kate’s Catherine Walker coat dress was in Prussian blue, a shade which holds historical significance in Germany.

The colour of Charlotte’s Rose & Albert smock and co-ordinating bow was surely a nod to the cornflower, traditionally a symbol of the country.

Trooping the Colour – 2017

When it comes to Trooping the Colour, a bold sartorial choice is the key to standing out on the balcony.

In 2017, Kate’s bubblegum pink Alexander McQueen dress and Jane Taylor fascinator ensemble ensured she did just that.

Charlotte was dressed in a patterned summer frock that was a slightly softer but still complementary shade of pink.

Christmas Day – 2016

One of Kate’s styling tricks when dressing with Charlotte is inverting the colours, and Christmas Day in 2016 was a perfect example of this.

Kate re-wore an old favourite coat from Hobbs, with Princess Charlotte’s wine-coloured tights, jumper and bow chiming perfectly with her mum’s suede Mulberry clutch.
