LeBron James is set to unveil a museum in his hometown of Akron, Ohio later this month.
The ‘LeBron James’ Home Court’, which will be the first museum dedicated to detailing the life and basketball journey of the future NBA Hall of Famer will open on November 25 on House Three Thirty.
A press release notes that the museum will offer fans a self-guided tour through LBJ’s life and career and will put a number of “never-before-seen items” on display.
The tour will start with LeBron’s mother, Gloria James, speaking about his childhood and then move on to his stint at St. Vincent – St. Mary’s, with the original rim and backboard he played with over there to also be an exhibit.
Other career highlights such as his draft as the No. 1 overall pick in 2003, his championship runs with the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Los Angeles Lakers, as well as his Olympic achievements, will be retold in an immersive walkthrough.
There’s also a gallery showing off the shoes the four-time MVP wore in some of his biggest games, fan art, family photos, and personal notes.
“My dream was always to put Akron on the map, so to have a place in my hometown that allows me to share my journey with my fans from all over the world means a lot to me,” James said.
“I’ve been known to hang on to a lot of things over the years, and I always knew there would be a time and place to bring them out. I’m so proud that place is House Three Thirty, a space my Foundation created to serve my I Promise families and the entire community.”
