It’s been 22 years since Warner Bros. first turned the book adaptation of JK Rowling into a billion-dollar movie franchise that became a global influence. Gathering both readers and movie lovers to fall in love with the magic and witness the adventures of the golden trio, the Harry Potter film series created some of the most memorable moments in the history of cinema.

While the Harry Potter universe flawlessly transported the audiences to the wizarding world, it also helped the actors create some auspicious moments on set. Not to mention the memorable scene from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, where Helena Bonham Carter enjoyed impersonating Emma Watson’s character, Hermione. But she faced some strange behavior from Daniel Radcliffe. Guess why?

Helena Bonham Carter Enjoyed Impersonating Hermione

Although JK Rowling and Warner Bros successfully transported the fans to Hogwarts and even the wizarding world, by creating a lifelong connection through the screen, there were certain challenges throughout the process. While creating the Harry Potter films the crew faced certain difficulties in visually converting a few parts from Rowling’s book.

Apparently, the film producers faced the greatest challenge to use makeup and CGI to make Emma Watson look like Helena Bonham Carter, in the Deathly Hallows Part 1 scene. According to the book, Hermione used a polyjuice potion to look like Bellatrix and infiltrate Gringotts Bank. However, when it came to visually transforming the scene, it became challenging.

Thus, facing difficulty with CGI, Helena Bonham Carter was asked to impersonate Hermione, which eventually became the most memorable part for her, as she long harbored the desire to portray Hermione. “Rather than put Emma Watson in a helluva load of make-up they just said, ‘Now you go act like Hermione.’ That was fun, because I always wanted to be Hermione” the Fight Club actress recalled.

However, while Helena Bonham Carter desired to impersonate Hermione, she had a strange time with Daniel Radcliffe.

Bizarre Reason Behind Daniel Radcliffe’s Strange Behavior

Recalling the incident while shooting the impersonation scene from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, Helena Bonham Carter mentioned how she was treated by Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. Discussing the scene, the actress stated, “It was great fun…[I was] looking at Dan [Radcliffe] and Rupert [Grint] and they were treating me as if I was 17

While Daniel Radcliffe‘s behavior appeared strange to Bonham Carter, the reason behind his bizarre treatment was later revealed during HBO’s Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts reunion special. Apparently, while Harry Potter ended up with Ginny Weasley, Radcliffe harbored a different crush on the 57-year-old actress.

Dear HBC, it was a pleasure being your costar and coaster, in the sense that I always ended up holding your coffee. I do love you and I just wish I’d been born 10 years earlier. I might’ve been in with a chance. Lots of love and thanks for being cool.” Daniel Radcliffe wrote a letter to Bonham Carter.

Given the old letter, it appears as though Daniel Radcliffe’s crush on Helena Bonham Carter made him treat the actress like a 17-year-old during the Deathly Hallows Part 1 scene when he had the opportunity.
