In a recent interview, renowned music artist David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, opened up about how his father, Adedeji Adeleke, wielded his power to hinder his progress in the music industry.

Davido revealed that his father had insisted on him obtaining a college degree before fully pursuing music.

According to the singer, he and his father had reached an agreement that allowed him to attend school for two weeks in a month while dedicating the other two weeks to his music career.

As his music career took off and his popularity grew, Davido became a distraction to his classmates and had to switch to part-time classes.

His father was displeased with the way his music career overshadowed his academics, leading him to use his influence to get Davido’s shows canceled.

Eventually, Davido completed his studies, and now his father is his biggest supporter.

Coming from a family that highly values education, Davido acknowledged that he is the first-generation entertainer in his bloodline.

His father emphasized the importance of finishing school, especially in their family where education is highly regarded.

It’s worth mentioning that Davido’s father owns a university, and his mother is a college professor.

They were likely worried because they wanted their children to succeed in whatever path they chose, and they knew it wouldn’t be easy in the highly competitive music industry.

So, they agreed that Davido would attend school for two weeks and focus on music for the other two weeks.

However, as Davido’s music career skyrocketed, he became a distraction in class, leading him to take part-time classes. This decision didn’t sit well with his father.

Davido shared an incident where he saw his face on a billboard for a show, only to have the show canceled before he arrived because his father had that kind of power.

The situation became so intimidating that people were afraid to book him for shows.

Nevertheless, Davido eventually completed his studies, and today his father is his biggest fan.
In a previous revelation, Davido’s cousin, B-Red, spoke about how they sold 20 TVs from Davido’s father’s house to raise money in a desperate situation.

According to the story, Don Jazzy had offered to help them on one condition, leading them to sell the Televisions to gather the needed funds.

Although they regretted their actions, they were grateful for the outcome.

Last year, Davido wrote a heartfelt note to his father, expressing gratitude for his guidance and impact on his life.

He attributed his humility, strong work ethic, and life principles to his father, noting that his wealth hasn’t changed his character, all thanks to his father’s teachings.
