Oprah Winfrey has been known around the world as an American host and a television producer. What most people might not remember is that she has also done some acting work in movies like A Wrinkle in Time, Selma, and, The Color Purple.
Interviewing celebrities with controversial topics became her new forte, however, and she became too famous for her serious interviews with blunt questions. The host was once rejected for a movie because she was so famous that the director thought that she would take up all the spotlight and no one would be able to pay attention to the movie!

The actress has also done some work in movies. Roles such as Sofia in The Color Purple even got her an Academy Award nomination back in 1985. Keeping that career aside for the time being, Oprah Winfrey focused on her show and later became more successful as a host rather than an actress.
Her fame grew to greater heights, however, and reached the skies when she was rejected for a movie because she was deemed too famous for the role! Talking about the 2008 movie titled Doubt, the actress revealed that she was rejected for the role because the director was afraid that the attention would be more on Winfrey than his movie!

Speaking about the experience with a paparazzi via his YouTube channel, Adam’s Apple, the American host revealed that the director of the 2008 movie John Patrick Shanley rejected the actress for a supporting role because her fame was too big for a small screen time role!
“I wanted to be in ‘Doubt’ … the director told me ‘no,’ because [the screen time] wasn’t long enough to lose the Oprah factor.”
The harrowing thing is that the movie also starred veteran actress Meryl Streep and Viola Davis and yet, Oprah Winfrey was rejected. Doubt went on to receive a rating of 7.5/10 on IMDB and 79% on Rotten Tomatoes and Winfrey continued to be the host of her show, The Oprah Winfrey Show.
