The backstory of that scene, contrary to the passionate affair on-screen, happens to be quite hilarious. Talking about the same on ITV’s Daybreak Morning Show, Radcliffe admitted that he’d never anticipated Watson to kiss him as if her life depended on it, because that’s how it felt. Not that he was complaining.

“I always thought it was going to be this soft sensual sort of moment, and suddenly there was this vigorous kissing happening to me,” The Lost City star said. “She is a bit of an animal. But then, I’m not complaining. There are tens of thousands of men that would cut off limbs to be in that position.”

But the feelings Watson poured into the kiss didn’t come from a place of lust or passion, it was actually the prospect of awkward tension that encouraged her to be bold and unfeeling.

Both Radcliffe and Watson maintained a strictly platonic equation with each other on the set, so when they were told to go topless for a kissing scene in the 2010 film, the latter got seized by panic. Worried that it might end up tarnishing their friendship with an air of awkwardness, the Beauty and the Beast star decided to jump right into it without giving it much thought.

“I guess I was just so worried about it coming across as awkward as I felt it was inside that I just wanted to make it as real as I could,” Watson, 33, revealed in an interview with JoBlo. “So I guess I just went for it?” Luckily for her though, her co-star didn’t make a fuss about any of it and eased the tension with humor.  “Dan is very funny and talkative and we could just have a laugh about it,” she remarked.
