Ryan Reynolds shared a sweet message about the late Robin Williams and the legacy he left behind.

A week after being awarded the Robin Williams Legacy of Laughter award from Bring Change to Mind, the Deadpool actor expressed how much it meant to him to be honored in that way.

“I miss Robin Williams. Pretty sure everyone does,” he wrote on Instagram. “His kids have turned his legacy into a living, breathing love-letter for good. It was a crazy honour to receive the Robin Williams Legacy Award last week at the annual Bring Change To Mind gala in NYC.”

Glenn Close began BC2M in 2010 with her sister and nephew to build awareness, understanding and empathy around mental health that would help inspire change and end stigma and discrimination, with a primary focus on children’s mental health.

“Glenn literally saves lives by making space for these conversations. I love this woman,” Reynolds continued in his caption. “Also, being roasted all night by some of the funniest people on earth was something I’ll never forget… without the help of a hypnotist.”

The Adam Project star is the seventh person to receive the Robin Williams award. Previous honorees include Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, Ben Stiller, The Smith Family, Dan and Eugene Levy, and Melissa McCarthy. Williams’ children Zak, Zelda and Cody choose the recipients each year, in honor of their father.

Reynolds has been candid about his mental health in the past, previously telling CBS Sunday Mornings that he’s struggled with anxiety his entire life. “I feel like I have two parts of my personality, that one takes over when that happens,” he said, explaining that when the curtain opens his confidence takes over.

At the BC2M gala, The Proposal actor spoke to People magazine about parenting and his children’s mental health. (He and wife Blake Lively have four kids.)

“I think it’s more about talking to them about everything,” the actor told the publication, adding that he and Lively emphasize “self-awareness” in their children. “It’s genuine when I say I take a huge interest in their days and how things are going.”
