Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns will host their NBA season-opening game on Saturday, October 28, against the Utah Jazz at the Footprint Center. Unfortunately, the 35-year-old may have to do most of the work anew with Devin Booker and Bradley Beal reportedly out in that matchup.

Beal has not played this season due to a lingering back issue while Booker will still be out due to a foot injury according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Booker suffered the injury in their season-opening game against the Golden State Warriors.

Durant played 39 minutes in the Suns’ loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, 95-100, on Thursday, October 26. He finished with 39 points, 11 rebounds and two assists. However, the glaring part was no other Suns player scored more than 15 points in that loss.

But the huge night of Durant also appended his place in the NBA’s all-time scoring list. The 13-time All-Star passed former Houston Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon for 12th spot with his huge scoring night against the Lakers, NBA.com reported.

Vogel needs to adjust fast

With Beal and Booker out, the chances of the Suns against the Jazz are uncertain. Durant could come up with another huge game although first-year head coach Frank Vogel still needs to squeeze out more from the rest of the roster.

That list is led by newcomers Jusuf Nurkic, Drew Eubanks and Eric Gordon. Josh Okogie has been holding up but the 25-year-old guard will need to step up if the Suns want to avoid their second-consecutive loss for the 2023-24 NBA season.
