Daniel Morcombe’s killer Brett Peter Cowan continues to be in constant danger while in prison after it was revealed that another inmate has recently planned to attack him.

Cowan, 48, was previously assaulted by an inmate who stabbed him in the neck in May 2018.

He was also doused with boiling water at Wolston jail, south-west of Brisbane, in August 2016 in an attack that left him permanently scarred.

Cowan’s safety has again been seriously threatened after an inmate confided to prison officials about the violent plot.

‘He made a statement he wanted to get to Cowan,’ a Wolston prison officer told The Courier Mail.

‘He told other prisoners and they gave him up.

‘(The prisoner who wanted to get to him) is like Robin Williams on ice, his brain is fried.’

The prisoner who said he wanted to attack Cowan was put on a safety order after the threat.

But he was placed back in his cell shortly after because the dentition unit of the jail is full.

Authorities said the prisoner who attacked Cowan in May last year used an ‘improvised implement’ to assault him in a common area.

Reports claimed the weapon was a sharpened toothbrush.

Officers said the situation was quickly brought under control and no staff were hurt.

An August 5, 2016, Cowan was left permanently scarred when fellow inmate Adam Paul Davidson scalded him with boiling water.

‘He had it coming,’ Davidson told prison officers later. ‘He is a f***ing grub.’

Davidson pleaded guilty to torture.

He was freed on parole late last year.

Cowan, a convicted child sex offender, abducted and murdered 13-year-old schoolboy Morcombe on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast in December 2003.

Schoolboy Daniel Morcombe, 13, was waiting for a bus when he was abducted and killed

Morcombe had been planning to catch the bus to the shops to get a haircut and buy Christmas presents for his family.

But the bus he was supposed to catch never arrived and Daniel disappeared, sparking one of the biggest missing person investigations in Australian history.

Cowan was long a top police suspect in the boy’s disappearance.

Police finally elicited a confession from Cowan with an elaborate sting operations where officers posed as gangsters in a fake crime syndicate.

The officers gained Cowan’s confidence and he eventually admitted ‘you know, yeah, I did it’.

He even led detectives to the remote creek where he dumped the child’s body.

Cowan was sentenced to life in jail with a minimum non-parole period of 20 years in 2014.

Cowan had a long rap sheet of twisted offences.

He had lost count of the number of young boys he had abused.
