In an interview with REAL 92.3 FM, Davido revealed that his deep passion for music was the driving force behind this decision.

During the interview, the 30-year-old artist emphasized his unwavering commitment to pursuing a career in music, even if it meant clashing with his billionaire father, who was more inclined towards Davido focusing on his education in exchange for a comfortable life.

Davido, known for his Afrobeat sound, expressed, “People are not really aware of my early career struggles. What made it difficult for me was my affluent background. Everyone assumed that because of my dad…it was all about money. I released several records before they finally agreed, ‘Okay, he is actually talented.’”

He further elaborated on his grass-to-grace journey, a story that resonates with many. While he had never truly experienced destitution, Davido’s burning passion for music led him to make unconventional choices. Despite having a lavish $60 million house in Nigeria, he chose to escape from its comfort and instead sleep in his friend’s studio, braving the challenging conditions. People around him thought he was inSane and urged him to return home, but Davido firmly stood his ground, declaring, “I’m not going home.”

Meanwhile, Davido’s team recently disclosed the price tag for securing the artist’s endorsement for a calendar year—$5 million. According to a post by Billpoint CEO, Linus Williams, on Instagram, Davido’s management shared the endorsement fee for partnering with his company, stating that the amount is subject to review at the end of the endorsement period.
