The actress, 44, proudly flaunted her natural beauty during the raw, minimally-edited shoot, while reminding readers that ‘looking your best’ is ‘different for everyone.’

The photoshoot sparked a furious debate on social media about body hair – with some people praising the Mean Girls alum for her confidence and others  branding it as a ‘turn off’ and stating that they will ‘never look at her the same again.’

‘Dear Lord… She has more pit hair than me,’ a man revealed. ‘Not sure who exactly really wants pit hair. It’s kinda worthless.’

‘That’s just nasty,’ read a fifth tweet, while a different user added, ‘It’s tasteless.’

Someone else even called the 44-year-old ‘Rachel McArmpits.’

‘They need to stop bringing that back. There was a reason it went away. I will not comply,’ scathed another person.

‘I would vomit if my wife had armpit hair like this,’ a different user wrote.

‘If you’re genuinely pissed off about Rachel McAdams showing her armpit hair in her most recent shoot, you should crawl back under the cold rock from which you came from,’ added someone else.

‘I’ve had two children, this is my body, and I think that’s so important to reflect back to the world,’ Rachel told Bustle. ‘It’s OK to look your best and work at it and be healthy, but that’s different for everyone’

A different tweet read, ‘Powerful. Amazing. Stunning. Brave.’

In one photo from the shoot, Rachel could be seen wearing a black corset-like tank top with similar colored pants and strappy heels.

In the picture, she sprawled across a couch with her arms spread open, leaving her hairy armpits on full display.

Another image featured her standing in a white, floor-length gown with a slit near her chest area. The sleeveless dress also showcased her unshaven under arms.

‘I’ve had two children, this is my body, and I think that’s so important to reflect back to the world,’ Rachel, who shares a five-year-old son and two-year-old daughter with her partner Jamie Linden, told the outlet.
