Emma Watson’s portrayal of Hermione in Harry Potter is unquestionably her most memorable role to date. The series has such a strong grasp on people’s hearts that fans remember her fondly even years later. Emma was only 11 years old when the first Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, was released. For a decade, she played Hermoine in the eight-part series, turning to the fictitious character.

Hermione initially appears to readers as a bossy know-it-all, but at the end, we witness a more collected and refined demeanor. Her physical characteristics were described as having frizzy, untamable dark hair, brown eyes, projecting teeth, and a nerdy appearance, which Emma Watson purportedly did not like.

Emma Watson was not confident about Hermione’s physical attributes

When Emma Watson first took on the role of the character, there were some liberties she objected to in terms of her physical appearance. But it was due to the fact that she was still a little apprehensive about Hollywood’s standards for beauty. Beauty standards usually meant having pin-straight hair, and hers was the polar opposite of what society desired.

“It’s embarrassing to see myself go through the awkward stages of growing up—my hair was just enormous! So much time has passed and so much has happened that it seems I don’t know her. But it’s interesting to see how the character has evolved and how much I have changed.”

During those formative years, Watson found it challenging to observe herself. The actor stated that she didn’t always appear to be the same person in the role. “I look back at the early films and see that little girl—II know it’s me, but it seems like a different person,” she explained.

In a 2007 interview with Parade, she said,

“When I was 9 or 10, I would get really upset when they tried to make me look geeky, but now I absolutely love it; I find it’s so much pressure to be beautiful. Hermione doesn’t care what she looks like. She’s a complete tomboy.”

Watson, on the other hand, eventually broke out of her concerns and accepted her look as Hermione. Hermione was also a wonderful role model for young women, according to Watson. Especially given how different the character was from other celebs at the time.

Hermione Granger as a role model for girls

Too often, young girls are told that intellectual females aren’t attractive. Hermione, on the other hand, is proud of her knowledge and demonstrates to young girls that it is acceptable to be nerdy. You know Hermione is violating rules for the greater good when she does. Sometimes we all need to break a few rules in order to accomplish what is best for ourselves and/or those around us.

Including erasing her parents’ memories of her for her to take part in the great war.

Hermione enjoys a good book and is always trying to show her friends how fantastic texts can be. All of her reading pays off because she becomes the brightest witch of her generation. Hermione is no damsel in distress; she is capable of saving herself. Nothing could keep Hermione from learning what she desired. She braved the library on her own to discover what kind of monster was terrifying Hogwarts students.

She figured out how to get the Horcrux volumes from Dumbledore’s office. She assisted in the planning of an uprising to ensure that kids were trained on how to protect themselves against the Dark Arts. Hermione’s use of her brain and research skills to assist Harry and Ron in saving the day was encouraging, but the resilience she displayed in spite of the atrocities of her daily life was the most inspiring portion of her story in Harry Potter.
