FANS of Elon Musk have slammed Time Magazine’s decision to crown Taylor Swift as Person of the Year instead of their favorite tech billionaire.

Swift, 33, was criticized for doing nothing but “date a famous football player” in 2023 by scorned Musk supporters.

Love her or hate her, world-famous star Taylor Swift was on the tip of everyone’s tongue throughout 2023.

She released two re-recorded albums, went on high-profile dates after her split with long-time boyfriend Joe Alwyn, and, most notably, crashed the Ticketmaster website with her Eras Tour ticket presale.

In recent months, Swift has also sparked a media firestorm for her out-of-left-field relationship with NFL tight end Travis Kelce.

As her profile in Time Magazine puts it, Swift has created her own economy with catchy pop songs, a record-breaking tour, and sought-after merchandise that are all framed by clickable headlines.

But these accolades weren’t enough for some online critics who felt she didn’t achieve anything significant enough to earn the title.

“This is what’s wrong with the press. They just aren’t serious,” wrote one outraged X user.

The user, and many others, shared a picture of Musk behind the iconic Time logo and said he “conquered space, automobiles and protected free speech.”

Musk supporters flooded his app X to list his achievements and voice their anger at the decision.

“I lost all respect for Time a long time ago,” another user wrote.

“Just like the Nobel Peace Prize. Both have become like trophies for participating.”

Another deemed the choice as “pathetic and lazy” and said it was ridiculous the star got so much recognition.

“She can’t sing. She can’t dance. Her lyrics are as bland as mayonnaise,” another person said.

But Swifties and supporters hit back that the decision was well-deserved as she broke records for being the most-streamed artist of 2023.

“Truly deserved. There is no artist in history to have a history-making feat like she did in 2023,” one fan said.

Another wrote: “Good choice. Positive message about her enormous talent, enormous success, and enormous good works.”

‘I WAS AFRAID’

In her sit-down interview with Time, Swift accused Kim Kardashian of taking her down psychologically after fueling the fires of her rivalry with Kanye West in 2016.

She claimed that the public fallout felt like “a career death,” saying: “Make no mistake — my career was taken away from me.”

Taylor explained: “You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar.

“That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls.”

But despite the public embarrassment, Swift went on to put her frustration toward her 2017 album Reputation which proved to be a great success.

“I thought that moment of backlash was going to define me negatively for the rest of my life,” she noted.

Taylor also spoke about how a life of fame can be fickle, adding: “Nothing is permanent. So I’m very careful to be grateful every second that I get to be doing this at this level because I’ve had it taken away from me before.

“There is one thing I’ve learned: My response to anything that happens, good or bad, is to keep making things. Keep making art.

“But I’ve also learned there’s no point in actively trying to quote-unquote defeat your enemies. Trash takes itself out every single time.”
