Emma Watson And Daniel Radcliffe Were Not Happy With Hermione And Harry’s Dialogues In Harry Potter Scripts

There are certain times when something just becomes larger than life, and everyone you know and meet either knows about it, or they would’ve heard about it. One such thing is the beloved Harry Potter franchise that has spanned different areas of entertainment, literature and so much more, all with just a series of novels created by author J.K Rowling.

But by far one of the most impactful decisions that made this literary masterpiece into the cultural phenomenon that it has become today is the film franchise that Warner Bros. produced and distributed to millions of people around the world. But even with so much fame and recognition the main cast of the franchise received through it, it seems like they didn’t like the dialogues they were given in their films.

Emma Watson And Daniel Radcliffe Had Their Dialogues Changed in The Harry Potter Films

No matter who you ask, there will always be someone out there in your vicinity who would be a die-hard fan of the Harry Potter franchise, no matter if they’re a fan of the literature series or the film series. The craze behind the mystical world of wizards and witches is truly a one-of-a-kind creation, only made more popular by the movie franchise starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint as the main characters of the story from the novels by J.K Rowling.

And while the multi-billion dollar film franchise launched their careers into the stratosphere, they still were loyal fans of the character from the stories they were portraying, which meant they respected their characteristics of them and tried to mimic them to the best of their abilities. But even when they were trying their hardest with their physical performances, at times, they would feel that the vocal performances needed improvements, specifically in the dialogue department.

In a past interview, Watson revealed that she was an avid reader of the novels and that she would feel pride in playing the role of Hermione Granger to perfection. Therefore, she often made sure to read her script thoroughly. And when it started to deviate from the character’s nature, she and her co-stars would rewrite their dialogues. She said:

“Well, actually, by the end, Dan, Rupert and I were rewriting our dialogue just because I would read something, and I would immediately say, ‘She wouldn’t say that.’ And, you know having played her for 10 years, [screenwriter] Steve Kloves and [director] David [Yates] trusted in me enough, I guess, to give me the freedom to do that. I don’t think I’ll ever have that chance again, so it was nice.”

Therefore, the stars honored their characters right up until their last film.

Why Is The Harry Potter Film Franchise So Popular?

The reason for the massive success that the film franchise received was due to many factors, but the most prominent of them would have to be the narration and director of the story in the films as well as the visual spectacle that the world of magic brought with itself on the big screen. Apart from that, the performances by every actor were just a cherry on top that enhanced the overall experience of every audience member that witnessed it.
