Elon Musk said he has found a potential name to succeed the trillion empire.

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, billionaire Elon Musk said he has prepared successors at the companies he founded in case of “uncertainty”. However, it was not one of his children.

“I’m certainly not the type of person who gives my kids a voting stake in a company, even if they have an interest, inclination, or ability to manage the business,” Musk told the WSJ. “I think it was a mistake.”

Musk, who owns 5 companies, said “succession is one of the most eternally difficult issues.” Still, he said he’s found a potential name to lead the companies he’s running.

“I’ve identified specific individuals and have said that to the board,” Musk said. “If something happens to me, the takeover will proceed. In any case, the board knows who I choose.”

Musk is currently the CEO of Tesla and the founder of SpaceX, Boring Company and Neuralink. As for Twitter, he handed over the CEO position to Linda Yaccarino and moved into the role of chief technology officer.

The 2nd richest billionaire in the world currently has 9 publicly known children. In addition to their son Nevada, who died in 2002, he and his first wife, Justin, have five other children, twins Griffin and Xavier in 2004, and triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian in 2006.

Musk and his first wife divorced in 2008. He married actress Talulah Riley twice in 2010 but had no children and split later. In 2018, Musk entered into a relationship with singer Grimes. The two have son X AE A-XII (2020) and daughter Exa Dark Sideræl (2022).

Recently, the billionaire has often been seen appearing with his 3-year-old son X AE A-XII at events and he even gave away a Twitter badge to his son.

According to court documents obtained by Business Insider, Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis, directors at Neuralink, reportedly welcomed twins in December 2021 via surrogacy. However, this information has not been confirmed by the American billionaire.

Last year, his eldest child applied for a name change on the grounds that she no longer wanted to be “related to her biological father in any way.”
