TESLA CEO Elon Musk has profited off of a botched Cybertruck presentation.

The founder and CEO of Space X and the California-based carmaker with the top-selling electric car was embarrassed after a Tesla designer failed at an attempt to show off how indestructible the vehicle is.

Tesla designer Franz von Holzhausen tried to show off the Cybertruck’s shatterproof windows while presenting the automobile in 2019.

It didn’t go according to plan but still resulted in a money-grabbing move, with the company profiting off the incident, according to CNN.

Holzhausen showed the durability of the vehicle by throwing a metal ball at each of the truck’s left-side “shatterproof” windows.

The windows that were advertised as unbreakable broke in front of the crowd watching the demonstration.

After that memorably awkward moment, Musk had a shocked response.

“Oh my f**king God,” he exclaimed at the time.

“Well, maybe that was a little too hard.”

While the metal ball didn’t go through either window, the force left a spiderweb of cracks in each side window.

Tesla cashed in on the embarrassment with a broken glass window sticker available for its customers to buy.

The sticker was specifically designed to fit the Cybertruck’s uniquely shaped window.

The company said the $55 stickers quickly sold out.

How many stickers were made available remains unknown.

The sticker is made to go on the back-seat window on the driver’s-side of the Cybertruck.

It doesn’t go on the front driver’s side window that cracked in real life.

The rear side window is a window the driver doesn’t have to look through so covering it with a big sticker emulating a crack won’t cause any safety issues.

Holzhausen did the demonstration again at a Cybertruck delivery event last week with what looked like a baseball and the window did not crack this time.

The timid throw technique he used that time, however, is said to not have enough force behind it to even make it to home plate.

The sticker is among a plethora of Cybertruck accessories listed on the Tesla website.

The menu of Tesla accessories includes a tailgate ramp, cargo rails, and a $3,000 tent that integrates with the truck bed.

Prices for the truck itself start at around $61,000 for a two-wheel-drive version.

It’d cost an EV buyer up to more than $100,000 for a four-wheel-drive high-performance model of the Tesla Cybertruck called the Cyberbeast.

The Tesla Model Y remained in the top spot for two years in a row when it comes to the global electric vehicle market, per Clean Technica.

Registrations were up 10% year over year (YoY) in January 2023, to over 662,000 units.

China’s market was the main driver of growth for Tesla’s Model Y sales.
