Growing up starring in the fantasy adventure franchise, many in the cast of Harry Potter fostered a unique bond as they grew up together on screen. However, Daniel Radcliffe, along with Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, have been quite open about the awkwardness and unexpected challenges behind filming some of the scenes, especially the kissing scenes.

The star of the series, Radcliffe, also experienced something similar when he was required to kiss his love interest, Ginny Weasley, portrayed by Bonnie Wright in the franchise.

Daniel Radcliffe Felt Awkward Filming His Kissing Scene

Emma Watson and Rupert Grint have been quite open about how awkward it was for them to kiss someone they grew up with. However, they were not the only on-screen couple who had this feeling. Daniel Radcliffe and Bonnie Wright, who starred as Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley, also felt the same when they were supposed to film their first kiss scene in The Half-Blood Prince.

Radcliffe later opened up about it and called it “weird” during an interview with Access Hollywood. He shared, “The kiss was… fine,” before adding, “It was slightly weird at first.” He further stated that although it was not the first time he filmed a kissing scene, it felt weird kissing someone he knew growing up.

“It was one of those things where it was slightly odd at first because I’ve known Bonnie since she was 9, and I was 11,” he shared. However, he went along with it after a few takes. And he was not alone, as his co-star, Bonnie Wright, also shared the same sentiment during several interviews.

Bonnie Wright Felt Strange Kissing His Harry Potter Co-Star

In the book series, Harry and Ginny share their first kiss in the sixth installment. And Bonnie Wright learned about it from her friends, who read the books “faster than [her],” as per Insider. She shared that it felt strange, as she had to film the scene with someone who was like a “friend and kind of like a brother” to her.

She told Seventeen during an interview, “Strange! We’ve known each other so long. That was weird — having to look at someone in a different way.” However, the actress shared that she felt okay on the actual day they were supposed to film the scene and “just went for it.”

She said that she tried treating it like any other scene she had to film. Wright also shared that they had around 30 takes to film the scene, and they filmed the sequence for two days to get it right. “And obviously, a lot happens in the scene as well. It was probably like 30 takes!” she told Seventeen.
