Actually, Rowling chose the name because she liked it and chose the first name (Harry) in tribute to the famous magician, Harry Houdini (who died on October 31, 1926). As she could not think of anything better at the time, she wrote the last name as Bratt.

But one issue she brought up with the publisher was that the name lacked any rings. She ultimately decided on Harry Potter because she thought it sounded much better.

She was extremely inexperienced and eager, in other words. Thousands of young people auditioned for the roles of Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively, and the then-unknown British actors, Watson and Rupert Grint were chosen from those. They had only performed in school plays up until that point. When they were cast, the Beauty and the Beast actress was ten years old while Grint was only eleven.
