Antony linked with shock Man Utd exit as club comes out of nowhere after switching targets

Anthony has been linked with a move away from Manchester United this summer.

Antony has emerged as a shock target for a club this summer amid intense transfer speculation.

Antony has been linked with a move away from Manchester United, having endured an underwhelming spell at Old Trafford since his whopping £86 million transfer in the summer of 2022.

He struggled for first-team action last season after making 44 appearances in all competitions in his debut campaign with the Red Devils.

A transfer away has been mooted, with Football Insider claiming Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr have registered their interest in a deal for Antony ahead of the summer transfer deadline.

Al Nassr have switched their attention to the Brazilian after failing to strike terms with Barcelona for Raphinha.

The Saudi Pro League side want to recruit a winger this summer, with the Premier League side thought to be prepared to offload the 24-year-old.

However, they are expected to make a loss on him with any potential sale.

The report also states that Man United are willing to let Antony leave on loan if his reported £100,000-a-week wages are covered.

Al Nassr aren’t the only club keeping tabs on him this summer.

Despite scoring on his debut against Arsenal, Antony has largely failed to impress at Man United since his switch from Ajax.

He’s scored just 11 goals in 82 matches across all competitions.

Speaking last month, Erik ten Hag reflected on Antony as he remains confident that the player can succeed at the club.

“I don’t go over the budget. I’ve never even had a budget. At United, the budgets lie with the owners and management,” he explained.

“He certainly showed that potential in the first month: he scored three times in his first three games. After that it became more difficult, last season was not good. But I am still convinced that he has the potential to play at this club.”
