“I Was Just So Upset” – A Young Jayson Tatum Hated Himself After Hearing His Mother Brandy Cole’s Loud Cries

Fans might be started to hear the struggles and difficulties that Jayson Tatum and his family went through prior to his success in the NB.

As we all know, Tatum is a star player for the Boston Celtics and has kept the historic franchise relevant after being drafted into it as the third pick in the 2017 draft.

After making it into the league, JT has consistently worked on his game and is considered one of the young and upcoming stars.

Although his success certainly helped financially secure his family, it cannot possibly undo the experiences and struggles that Tatum and his brother Brandy Cole went through before he made it. Let us take a better look and find out what were the problems he was going through at the time.

This might seem truly saddening and beyond the imagination of several financially well-off fans and people. However, the fact remains that Tatum and his family struggled to survive and find the means to live comfortably.

This would make sense considering that his father was a high school basketball coach and his mother was a housewife at the time.

Since his job as a coach didn’t pay well enough, Justin Tatum and Brandy Cole struggled to make ends meet and take care of young Jayson.

It was at this time that they were served an eviction notice, meaning they would have to leave their current place of residence. Tatujm revealed that the news drew an emotional reaction from his mother and an unexplainable sense of frustration from himself.

“My mom broke down in tears as soon as she saw it (Eviction Notice). Whether it was heat being cut off, or the water, it always seemed like it was one problem after another. And she was hurting.

She went to her room. I could hear her crying through her bedroom door…I went to my room as well. I was just so upset — angry at myself for being so young, unable to help, with no control. Of course I was just a kid, only 8 or 9 years old, so I didn’t really understand the whole situation, but I knew enough to know what that pink paper meant.”

One can only imagine the fear and confusion that a young Tatum would have over the future of his own family. Hence he felt a sense of frustration.

Especially since he was unable to do anything to help at the time. Thankfully, issues of that nature are highly unlikely to impact his family due to the wealth he has generated through his career in the NBA.
