Victor Wembanyama gifts fan tickets after heartbreaking missed game

On December 23, the San Antonio Spurs traveled up the state of Texas to take on the Dallas Mavericks. Victor Wembanyama was set to play, but before tip-off, he stepped on the foot of a Mavericks employee. The star rookie was ruled out for the game, and one Spurs fan was very upset.

Brayden, a Dallas local who grew up a Spurs fan because of his dad’s San Antonio roots, got tickets to the game. He spent the entire summer looking forward to watching Wembanyama play for the first time in his life. When Wembanyama was ruled out, Brayden took to Twitter to voice his disappointment.

It was a reasonable absence, as Wembanyama had just rolled his ankle, but rather than let it be, the Spurs rookie took action. He personally messaged Brayden on Instagram and promised to get him tickets to an upcoming game.

He ended up attending the Spurs’ game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night, which was one of the best games of the season.

When it was all said and done, Brayden caught up with Tom Petrini of KENS 5 and spoke about what the gesture meant to him.
“The fact that he went out of his way to do something like that really speaks volumes to the type of person he is,” Brayden told Petrini. “Us Spurs fans need to really appreciate that about him as well as his talent. He is a genuine good dude.”

For any player to do something like this, it’s a great move. But for a rookie to have the wherewithal and kindness to reach out and give a fan tickets to watch him play speaks volumes to his character.
