Before his arrival in the league, what Luka Doncic could achieve in the NBA was questioned because he had come from playing in Europe and the argument was that the level in the United States was higher. However, Doncic arrived and, from the first moment, made it clear that he would be a superstar.
Now, the Slovenian has reached the figure of 10,000 points in six seasons in the best basketball on the planet and dispelled the doubts that, at some point at the beginning of his career, hovered over him. Now, “Luka Magic” is shaping up to be one of the best scorers in NBA history, after being the seventh fastest player to reach that amount in just 358 games.
Doncic surpassed LeBron James in this section, who achieved it in 368 games, and the comparisons between both players become increasingly stronger due to the similarities between their playing styles.

Numbers after 358 games
After 358 games, both players had achieved interesting records, but Doncic surpasses James in various statistics within his first seasons in the American league. In a comparison based on that number of games, the Slovenian has more points (10,039), rebounds (3,062) and assists (2,893) than “King James.” For his part, the native of Akron, Ohio, had 9,707 points, 2,434 rebounds and 2,339 assists.
In addition, “Luka Magic” has a better percentage in field goals (46.8%), long-distance shots (34.3%) and free throws (74.2%) than James. Doncic even has an advantage over “Bron” in double doubles (188) and triple doubles (62).
James leads this statistical dispute with the Slovenian in two aspects and, coincidentally, it is where Doncic has shown that things are a bit complicated for him: defense. “King James” has more steals (643) and blocks (278) than the European.
Despite having reached 10,000 points in fewer games, “El Matador” failed to break James’ mark of being the youngest player in history to reach this figure at 23 and 59 days. The Slovenian achieved it at 24 years and 300 days. In turn, he joined the select group of those who reached this amount before the age of 25, made up of James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony and Tracy McGrady.
With this, Doncic shows that he is a fairly complete player and that he can contribute in various areas to his team. Furthermore, if he continues like this he could surpass the records that James has set since his arrival to the NBA in 2003 and continue including his name in the history of the American league.
