Victim of an employee who was a little too close to the circle, Victor Wembanyama hurt his ankle this Saturday evening. Nothing very serious, even if the Spurs decided to dismiss him. The fans are angry and blaming… the Mavericks.
Victor Wembanyama was not on the floor to face the Mavericks this Saturday. However, he was warming up, ready for his long-distance duel against Luka Doncic, except that the Frenchman stepped on the foot of an opposing employee. The player’s ankle turned slightly and, as you can imagine, Spurs didn’t want to take any risks.
A fairly stupid and avoidable injury in the end. Wembanyama was angry when he was told he couldn’t be on the field, which Popovich confirmed. The coach did not want to play with the star’s health, which is obviously understandable. On the other hand, fans are especially angry with the Mavericks employee in question.
Controversy erupts after Wembanyama injury
Spurs sat him out of precaution because he’d just rolled that same ankle, said he would’ve played if it was a critical game. But what is dude doing? He even sees Wembanyama coming and just stays flat-footed. I’m not saying go sprint in the other direction, but damn man… https://t.co/Z8VII8mz3I

First of all, many are trying to understand why this employee was so close to the circle, especially since his job was not to give the balls to the players. He didn’t really need to be in that exact spot, let alone seeing Wembanyama coming from afar. For some, there is no doubt that everything was planned.
Why is that 🤡 near the court anyways if he works for the Mavs. Spurs have staff to catch the rebounds

But what is this guy doing? He sees Wembanyama coming from afar and he doesn’t move. I’m not saying he should run in the other direction, but damn…
The Mavs employee understood his mission
And why was this clown so close to the floor if he works for the Mavs? The Spurs have a staff to catch rebounds
Impossible to know more, but we imagine that the Spurs will have their little investigation. Obviously there is no question of blaming the Mavericks, but let’s hope that this alert serves as a lesson in the future. No need to be so close to the players, especially if you decide to stop moving.
This injury to Victor Wembanyama is undoubtedly frustrating. More of an alert than anything else for the Frenchman, but it could have been worse. Hopefully this employee learns his lesson in the future.
