Stephen Curry has elevated Under Armour to heights beyond imagination. 11 years after signing with the brand and 11 signature shoes later, the Golden State Warriors superstar is now an integral part of the company. But back in 2009, it was someone drafted behind Curry who initially took a chance on the athletic brand.

During a recent episode of the Club 520 Podcast, Jeff Teague showered praise on Stephen Curry for doing good to Brandon Jennings, even though Teague initially laughed at Jennings for wearing Under Armour on the court.

“As much as people talk about Curry, there is no Under Armour basketball without Brandon Jennings,” said DJ Wells, to which Jeff Teague replied, “Facts.” Jennings became the first-ever basketball athlete endorsed by Under Armour. As no one was wearing it back in the day, Jeff Teague made fun of Jennings for wearing it, but stopped once he figured out how much he was getting paid for it

Although it was still new at the time, Curry eventually took the brand to new avenues. Jennings was also part of the 2009 NBA draft, like Stephen Curry. But unlike Curry, who suffered from ankle injuries in the early part of his career, Jennings was able to showcase his talents with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Jennings signed with Under Armor even before making it to the NBA. While Curry went the traditional route, Jennings played a year overseas after deciding to skip college. Jennings’ deal with the brand was signed even before he got drafted. The faith Jennings put in the brand has now paid him in dividends, as Under Armour and even Stephen Curry collaborated with him in 2023.

Stephen Curry and Brandon Jennings’ collaboration

Earlier in 2023, Brandon Jennings signed a new shoe deal with Under Armour. This process helped Jennings grow his own business as well.

Both Curry and Jennings have shared the court on numerous occasions. The two even fought against each other for the ROTY title in their rookie season. But this has strengthened the relationship that they have built over the years.

Jenning’s Tough Crowd and Under Armour have now partnered for a 4-collection drop. Stephen Curry later announced this on social media while posting images with his ‘brother’ as he was happy to be working with Brandon Jennings.
