Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is eager to share his love for football with the next generation, and his son Bronze couldn’t ask for a better teacher.

Patrick and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, shared a special moment with Bronze, who turns two next month, as they participated in a long-standing football tradition that has extra meaning to their family.

As Texas natives and high school sweethearts, Patrick and Brittany made sure to show their son that there is more to the sport than college football Saturdays and the NFL Sundays that Bronze and his sister, Sterling Mahomes, have grown up around.

The influence of sports runs deep in the Mahomes family. Patrick’s father, Pat Mahomes, spent 11 years as an MLB pitcher before passing his cannon arm onto the three-time Super Bowl MVP.

Brittany, 29, enjoyed a brief stint as a pro soccer player in Iceland following a record-setting collegiate career at UT-Tyler. She is still actively involved in the sport, joining her husband as co-owners of NWSL franchise Kansas City Current.

Ahead of the Sunday’s Super Bowl LVIII rematch between the Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, Brittany shared an Instagram story with a photo of Patrick and Bronze at what appeared to be a high school football game.

“Friday night lights,” Brittany wrote with a white heart emoji.

The two-time NFL MVP reposted the photo to his own Instagram story, showing the world how proud he was to carry on the classic tradition with his son.
